The Twins - Together At Last

After receiving glowing reviews for our 10000’s, which we commissioned back in 2010 from Dapol, we are delighted to announce that its twin, the 10001 has landed on our doorstep this week. The 10000, described by Hornby Magazine as the “cream of the crop... for diesel and electric modellers,” has been waiting over a month to be reunited with its twin 10001, and after testing some out in the office today, I can confirm that it is every bit the equal of its older brother. Unlike 10000 however, we currently have two versions of 10001 in stock. 10001FP, which is in BR Black with no crest, or the later version, 10001GP, which has the small, early crest. Our 10000’s have been selling incredibly quickly, and these are sure to be no different. Be sure to visit our 10000 information page for more information, because once they’re gone, they’re gone!

Shop refurbishment update

Hattons Shop Update 27/5/11

Since opening our warehouse last year we have found ourselves with a lot more space in the shop. It’s been our on-going mission to use this space in a way that will get the best out of our vast range of stock. In the past we have always displayed our products in their boxes and this was one of the first things we wanted to change. A lot of you have mentioned to us that it would be much better to get everything out of the boxes to show them off more, and I’m glad to say we have finally taken that advice. After nearly 10 years of us being at 364 Smithdown Road we finally have the space and opportunity to display more items than ever before, and in a really stunning way.

Greg Moore (our resident handyman) has designed and built 9 beautiful, bespoke cabinets and right now we are in the process of filling them up. Each one can house around 60 locos and feature a stepped, Perspex shelving unit to maximise the display. There are lights at the top and plenty of cupboard space below where we can store the empty boxes. It’s been a big job to build and fill these cabinets but now they are taking shape we really feel all the hard work is paying off.

Our efforts to improve the look of the shop are not just confined to the interior. Over the next week we are painting the front of the shop and hanging a brand new Hattons sign. So if you pass us next week please don’t be put off by the scaffolding and dripping paint brushes, we are open for business as usual. And if you get a chance, come and see the new cabinets in all their glory. Just try not to touch the wet paint!

Bachmann announce Blue Pullman

Two sets will be produced, one in all over blue and the other with half yellow ends.

Hattons and Heljan Class 28 Exclusive

Following the great success of the Hattons and Heljan Class 14 project we are delighted to announce our next exclusive Special Commission. This will take the form of the Metropolitan-Vickers Class 28 Co-Bo locomotive.

20 of these locomotives were produced in the late 1950's and were well-known for being the main locomotives to haul the new 'Condor' freightliner service for BR in 1959, hauling this in pairs from London to Glasgow.

Livery application will be up to Heljan's usual high standard and weathering will be applied to the underframes and roof including exhaust stains.

Delivery is anticipated during the first quarter of 2011.

Hattons have been linked with the Co-Bo's in the past as, after Hornby Dublo went out of business, Norman Hatton bought a lot of their stocks including a lot of their Co-Bo models. There were thousands of these in stock and often people would be directed to Hattons if they were looking for one of the Class 28's. This is one of the reasons why we have chosen this loco to be our next model.
